Shagbark Hickory Nuts Wild Edibles Ten Mile Creek


Once the hulls are removed I put the uncracked nuts in a bucket of water.  The ones that sink are the ones I used for eating and planting; the others are either rotten or blank. I recommend waiting until the nuts fall from the tree on their own. This way you know they are ripe. 



Maybe our future doesn't have to be based upon the past.
