AUGUST- William Franklin Horn, son of Jacob Horn who was a pioneer of the area and who in this year was a resident of Topeka, Kansas, wrote  a letter to the Observer newspaper, describing the collection of family papers he had in his possession. They would become known as The Horn Papers, and were later published into a bookUnfortunately the papers were found out to be a hoax only one year after the book was published in 1945.
