FEBRUARY-5th-Postcards from New Cumberland Army Reception Center near Harrisburg, which served as a crucial site for military induction during World War II, dated February 5th, 1942 are sent from George Medenciy to his mother Mrs. Charles Medenciy in Marianna, according to the keeper of the postscards. 

MARCH-In "Checkerboard News" magazine is a farm article by Lester H. Hartwig about John Edgar of Marianna titled "Fill you Baskets the Edgar Way".
MAY-Olive Emma Barr (Gayman) dies in Marianna at age 64 on 15th. She was married to Charles Francis Barr. They had 6 children.
JULY-30th-Marianna volunteer fire company is formed.
AUGUST-5th-Mary Donahoo was born to T. Albert and Pearl White Donahoo.
MONTH?-Judge Charles Sweet opened his first law office in the old bank building in Mariana in 1942.

NOTES-The major turning point in World War II during 1942 was the Battle of Stalingrad, which began in August 1942 and lasted into February 1943. While the battle technically ended in 1943, the tide started to turn in favor of the Allies in late 1942.
