The GREEN font below is information about the Marianna area. BLACK font is elsewhere.
Before European settlement, the Marianna area was inhabited by at least 3 native populations (a group referred to as the "Monongahela tradition" lived in Washington County between 1000 A.D and the 1630's.The total population of the Monongahela People was never large and peaked during the 1300's). Before village Indians there were mound builders in Marianna.
Each group in the Marianna area had different ways of living, customs, and burials. Burial mounds were found on a couple of Zollarsville farms, as well as West Beth farms.
