OCTOBER-John T. Sever, 43, of East Marianna died. According to his obituary, he was stricken at work as he planned to enter the Marianna Mine of the Bethlehem collieries, and was removed to the hospital where he later died. He was the son of Angelina Sever Machilar of Marianna, and the late John Sever. He was secretary of the SNPJ Lodge 171 of Marianna, a charter member of the Marianna Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the UMW Local 2874. Surviving are his wife Anna Shimrock Sever and one son, John Francis. John's sister died 4 years later at age 39, see HERE.
NOVEMBER-2nd-D.L Post of Marianna, and Alex McBurnie of Third Street Marianna, have been named president and vice president, respectively, of the newly organized Bethlehem Township Joint School. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Williams have gone housekeeping in East Marianna. Mr. Williams was discharged from service September 9th, and is the husband of the former Mary Lou DeMay. Source.
