Co-existing with Coyotes Opinion

Unfortunately, in Marianna, we have no small shortage of ignorant people with a serious disconnect from the wild world. When I read a comment online of a Marianna resident saying that she had heard coyotes in the woods, and another resident responded that she is sure there are enough hunters in the area to kill all of the coyotes and even offered a reward to a hunter who kills the most I found this sad and unfortunate. Pure and utter ignorance and a complete lack of respect for wildlife are why animals and insects go extinct or are in decline. We absolutely can co-exist with beautiful song dogs. Hazing is a safe option and it works on coyotes. I  have put it to use myself, twice now, by merely whistling loudly out the window or going to the edge of the road when a group of coyotes, or a single one, are not far off and whistled. By the 2nd whistle, they are quiet. I wish they could go on howling in the night as they were meant to. But, unfortunately, this area is still heavy with people who are lost, including barbaric trappers who think it's okay for sentient beings to die because they've been conditioned to think coyotes are no good, and so leave them trapped in complete agony for any amount of time for whatever reason then later brag to other imbeciles.

Here are some links below for the few who visit this page who have yet to see value in such beautiful sentient beings, so similar to the very dogs many of us keep as pets:

The Comfort Theory #StopTheKill campaign seeks to ban all hunting contests in the U.S. through a targeted campaign designed to raise awareness and inspire others to take action, helping our leaders create policy change. Using a short documentary film, sharable social media and video clips, written articles, and advocacy tools from our partner, Project Coyote, #StopTheKill invites you to help shut down this archaic blood sport.
