I highly recommend "Trapped" if you want to know more about the disasters that occurred in the early part of the 20th century.

Karen Tintori writes a thorough examination of the coal mine fire in Cherry Illinois. In the early 1900s, there were several mine disasters and the Cherry Mine fire happened in 1909, just one year after the Marianna disaster. All of these disasters helped with the establishment of the U.S Bureau of Mines in 1910, whose safety and health role was limited to research and investigation.

Abel Gray was an interesting local story, and the life of the author is also interesting and sad.

"Hollow Ground" was inspired by real-life events in Centralia, Pa. A good read!
