Ornaments from Old Photographs

Here are a few handmade ornaments from wood and old family photographs. I had the photos printed onto cardstock, then cut the ends on a few to be more oval shaped. I decoupaged them onto wood cut to the same size and decorated them with clay shapes and ribbon. The edges are colored with antique stain. I haven't done it yet, but I hope to try a few star shapes, plus adhere napkin-printed images to glass bulbs.

On the backside of each ornament is old school line paper, also decoupaged, where I wrote about the family member/s in the image. The ornaments make for nice conversation pieces during the holiday. I am working on a few with color, though I like the idea of a very vintage tree with black and white and sienna colors, and gold and brown shiny bulbs. At any rate, the tree would be, quite literally, a "family tree".

On another note, if we had some sort of museum here in Marianna, it would be cool to have a Marianna-themed tree, with little company house ornaments, old newspaper images cut out and adhered to flat clear ornaments, gold lights, and mini photos in frames of some of the old photos of the area. Even a local veterans tree would also be beautiful. Lots of ideas for that! And we can't leave out a nature-themed tree, perhaps outdoors, with local found items: feathers, acorns, pine cones, grapevine, dried flowers, wooden tags with local insects/trees/flowers/animals identification info, solar lights.

Thanks for visiting.
