Mary G. Harris Jones was born in 1937. She came to the United States from Ireland. In the 1920's she was the most famous female activist of her time. While here she was an American labor union organizer and member of the Industrial Workers of the World. Many referred to her as a being a "hell-raiser" in the cause of economic justice.  And during this time, a United States attorney once labeled her "the most dangerous woman in America." When she asked where she lived, she would often reply "Wherever there is a fight."

Jones died in 1930.
