Bear Corn (Conopholis americana)

Each time I believe I've witnessed every plant in Marianna, another one surprises me. Bear Corn (Conopholis americana), also known as "American cancer-root," is a perennial commonly found in the eastern half of the United States and Canada, particularly in areas where oak trees thrive. This wildflower produces corncob-like fruiting stalks during late spring. These unexpected discoveries highlight the fascinating diversity of flora waiting to be uncovered within Marianna's lush surroundings.

Maybe our future doesn't have to be based upon the past.
