Christmas in July-Local Artist

"I have adored the legendary Santa Claus figure since I was a little girl," said local Marianna artist Lisa Scherer. "His cheerful joviality of "Ho, ho, ho!" left a magical mark on me, especially when I would sit on Santa's lap every December, stuttering close to his ear what all I  wanted from him for Christmas. The idea of a jolly man delivering gifts to good children the night before Christmas inspired me enough to keep his spirit alive, even in adulthood. His happy, giving, unique, friendly, merry self is captured in various ways in paintings, cards, movies, dolls, and miniatures. And even though his look is repeated by crafters worldwide, he seems to always appear different in some way to whoever is sewing, sculpting, painting, or carving him. Whether he is heavy or thin, wearing red, green, or white, wearing a hat or glasses, or keeping his beard long or short, he is recognized immediately and loved. There are many Santa creators, but there are even more Santa collectors. My miniatures are collected all over the United States and in Canada and the U.K. I believe that everyone should have that beautiful Santa sparkle inside them, no matter how old they are."
