Awakening

I woke this morning to the song of an American Robin, a sign that spring may come early this year. We are in the midst of the January thaw, so it's not surprising to hear the song of a bird often associated with spring. Robins are among the first birds to nest and can start building as early as January if the weather is mild, though the breeding season typically begins in March. Now is the time when many gardeners plan their gardens and may even start propagating seeds indoors. Some also begin pruning certain trees, as it’s less stressful on the tree than doing it in the summer.

As the days gradually grow longer, these early signs of spring remind us that the seasons are shifting, and a new cycle of growth is just around the corner.

Maybe our future doesn't have to be based upon the past.
