Clearing Misconceptions
It has come to my attention that a person made a social media post suggesting that members of the previous Marianna Borough Council, who served until 2019, were involved in a case of missing funds. The council members were not involved in any such incident, and no charges have been filed against council in the past six years in regard to these matters. Furthermore, the case is closed, after a secretary during that period was charged.
Unfortunately, the lie in regard to council being involved continues to circulate, falsely suggesting wrongdoing on the part of those who served. It is disheartening to see innocent individuals used as political scapegoats, with such claims diverting attention from other important issues, or away from the actual truth. This pattern of spreading misinformation appears to be part of a broader political tactic, which does a disservice to the community. The members being accused were and are good, honest people who served with integrity and have been unfairly maligned (to note-one of many great projects that they had hoped to achieve when serving can be read HERE).
If your only source of local news is through an acquaintance’s posts or hearsay, I encourage you to seek out more reliable and accurate information.
