Ringing in the Past

I have always envisioned a big iron bell standing in the Marianna mine yard, reverberating deep tones across the valley. Every year, in November, I think of it being rung in memory of the 154 coal miners who lost their lives in the Marianna Mine disaster, November 28th, 1908.

A bell like this wouldn't just mark the passing of time; it would serve as a lasting tribute to the miners' courage, their dedication, and the lives they led.

Maybe our future doesn't have to be based upon the past.
