Johnetta, Pennsylvania
Johnetta,a now-vanished industrial town in Western Pennsylvania’s Alle-Kiski Valley, was founded in 1892 and named for John H. Jones of the Pittsburgh-Buffalo Company and his daughter, Etta. The town thrived for several decades on its rich deposits of clay, coal, and natural gas before gradually declining. It was officially dissolved in 1930, by which time only six residents remained—down from a population of 662 recorded in the 1910 U.S. Decennial Census.
