Marianna Floods, Droughts, Record-breaks

FLOODING

1874-August 1st-A destructive storm ravages Washington County, causing significant damage. The Reviewer and Examiner report the sweeping away of several bridges in the county due to the overflowing waters of Tenmile Creek, leaving a trail of destruction from Lone Pine to Zollarsville.
2017-Roads upstream closed.

HISTORICAL FLOODS

1936-March (This flood became known as the Great Saint Patrick's Day Flood.)
1963-March 5 water surface rose to approx. 4.8 above the no damage stage. 
1972-June 23 (Hurricane Agnes)
1975-September 24 (Hurricane Eloise)
2004-September  17 (Hurricane Ivan)

DROUGHTS
1930-October-Severe drought. Mon river dropped below 10 cubic feet per second. In Morgantown,West Virginia, and other locations the water was low enough it could be crossed on foot.
1957- Drought left the Marianna Dam with no water above, below, or over it.

RECORD-BREAKING:
1956-Record-breaking drought.
2018-Wettest year on record (as of 2019).
2020-Jan 11, 72 degrees in Marianna(70 in Pittsburgh). Highest temperature in 1890 was 68 degrees at Pittsburgh International airport.
2023-Hottest year on record (as of 8-4-2024)
2024-Warmest June on record (as of June 2024).
