JANUARY-12th-Workers find fireboss dead. According to several reports, James Charles of Marianna, fire box of Bethlehem Mine Corporation, was found dead under a motor in the mine today by several employees. Charles entered the mine early this morning to inspect before the miners reported for work.
JULY-Boy miner, John Zayakosky, age 16, is fatally hurt from injuries received in the Bethlehem Steel Co. mine.
AUGUST-8th-Announcement: Shidler-Murphy Wedding. Mrs. J. W. Shidler announces her daughter Marjorie Shidler marriage to Steward E. Murphy of Washington, who was recently chosen principal of East Bethlehem Township schools. Rev. John C. McMinn, of Jefferson, officiated.
SEPTEMBER-F. M. Roach and his wife Liddia Ann Roach celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.



NOTES-In 1927-28 the West Bethlehem High School girls won the county basketball championship held at Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. The team was coached by miss Mamie Volpe. The members of the squad include: First Row, left to right-Nellie White, Julia Yoskey, Captain Catherine Codish, Lulu Evans, and Helen Levandosky. Back Row-Mary Crusic (girls manager), Anetta Hazilett, Eleanor Rogers, Helen butler, Anna Shimrock, Mildred Weaver, Miss Mamie Volpe (Voach).
