Marianna and West Bethlehem Township Historical Society
Marianna Borough and West Bethlehem Township do not have a historical society, currently. A few people reached out to this blog asking if there was a place to donate old items. Although the Marianna Community Public Library has a wealth of historical information, they are not a historical society. The library is a 501(c)(3)non-profit, type "Educational Institutions and Related Activities". However, they accept historical items and display their collection for the library patrons to view. Reach out to them if you have any questions at (724)267-3888.
If you want to start a 501(c)(3) non-profit historical society, there is a wealth of information online in how to get started. There are no local groups or non-profits yet who have established the title of being a "Marianna Historical Society". Long ago, a group of locals had started a process for a historical society but it did not fully take root, to my understanding. Also, there isn't a official historical or architecture government committee either, in either Marianna Borough or West Bethlehem Township. When and if a government committee occurs, an ordinance is created and required, as well as a long list of other things like board members, rules, mission, etc. Talk to your elected officials if you are interested in creating a historical/preservation board.
