1453-May 29th The capital of the Eastern Roman Empire, Constantinople was conquered by the Ottoman Army, under the command Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II. 

1473-Sistine Chapel construction begins.

1485-First English outbreak of "sweating sickness" kills thousands: repeated in 1506, 1517,1528, and after to claim several million.

1495-Epidemic of syphilis sweeps Europe.

1487-Leonardo da Vinci's famous Vitruvian Man, a drawing created circa 1487, with the 7 chakras or energy centers indicated. 

1492-Christopher Columbus reaches the New World. 

1503-1519-Mona Lisa painted by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Painting most likely of Lisa del Giocondo.

1507-The first outbreak of smallpox in the New World spreads to Mexico by 1520. Several million die.

1528-Typhus epidemic in Italy claiming a few hundred thousand lives.

1554-De Materia Medica, book 6, published in Lugdunum.
