FEBRUARY-1st-Petition filed by attorney Charles G. Sweet, for the founding of Marianna Field and Stream.
JULY-Albert Sabol born to Alexander "Cannon" and Helen Zamiska Sabol.
AUGUST-Harold R. Church, 15, died. Services held at First Christian Church. Final resting place Horn Cemetery. On his memorial card is written "A Saturday outing on Ten Mile Creek to escape the summer heat ended in tragedy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 28th, 2948 when Harold R. Church, aged 15 stepped into a deep hole of water while wading and lost his life before a buddy could save him. He was a son of Mrs. Margaret Church Barr, of Marianna.

Young Church and a friend,  Blair Jean Horn, age 15 years were wading in the North Branch of Ten Mile Creek when the Church boy stepped beyond his depth and out of sight in the deep water. Horn tried to aid him but was unable to rescue him and had to run for help. 

The Bentleyville Fire Department responded to the plea for for help and soon recovered the body. Efforts to revive the boy were fruitless after he had spent 20 minutes in the water..."

NOTES-The J & J Hotel, operated by James and Margaret Fuchick since 1948, stands as a local landmark on Kirby Town Hill. The building also contains a bar.
