JANUARY 28th-A petition filed by attorney Charles G. Sweet is granted, on behalf of Marianna Field and Stream. "The purpose of this organization shall be to band together in good fellowship, the residents of Marianna Borough, West Bethlehem Township and the surrounding communities in hope to preserve wildlife, promote good sportsmanship and help others in need"...By-laws Marianna Field & Stream...." Source.
AUGUST-2nd-William B. Wollet, of Homestead, retires. Wollet was a former resident of Monongahela, according to an article in the Daily Herald, who had closed 46 years of service on the Monongahela Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad when he retired yesterday. In his early days with railroad, the article went on, Mr. Wollet worked as a baggage master with Conductor Bentley on the Ellsworth Branch, and he still vividly remembers the Marianna and Cincinnati mine disasters. The passenger train then was the only means of transpiration and aid the injured had.
