Jacob Ulery and Isabal Ulery [Wise]
Jacob-Born-1803-Died-April 24, 1868 (age 65-buried in West Beth-Horne cemetery)
Isabella-Born-October 11 1835-Died April 15th, 1896 (Age 60- buried in Iowa)

Jacob Ulery lived in Zollarsville, the largest community in West Bethlehem Township until 1908, with his wife Isabella.  His occupation was a farmer. He built a water-powered grist mill there in 1835. 

"Since it passes into the possession of Stephen Ulery, steam has been applied with successful results." Source: Boyd Crumrine, History of Washington county, Pennsylvania: with biographical sketches of many of its pioneers and prominent men, Philadelphia: H. L. Everts and Co. (1882), p. 977.

"The [Wise] mill was in operation for many years, and only divided the milling business after 1836 with the Ulery mill, which was built about one mile above the Wise mill in that year." Source: Boyd Crumrine, History of Washington County. (1882), 971.

The 1850 census has 1 other member living with Jacob and Isabella and her name was Sarah Shape age 20.

The 1860 census has 3 household members living with Jacob and Isabella and they are Kate Gender (19) who was a servant, Jackson Sargent (17), and John Horn (26) Farm Laborer.


The inscription reads: THIS BUILDING WAS ERECTED BY JACOB ULERY & ISABAL IN THE THE OF OUR LORD 1838.
