Old West Bethlehem Township Postcard Enhanced

Original Postcard- Pennsylvania train depot in West Zollarsville/Marianna.
Enhanced versions with train added, words/pipe removed, height extended, colorized.
The integrity of the original image is still intact.

The train would stop here 3 to 4 times a day, as well as further up at the tracks at the swinging bridge that stretched across the North Branch of Ten Mile Creek. Passengers boarded the train to take trips to the town of Monongahela, where they switched trains if they wanted to go to the city of Washington.

The mountain to the left was nicknamed "Cowboy Mountain" or "Indian Hill". The daily passenger delivered freight here. Families came from all over the area, including Pittsburgh, on Saturday evenings via train to attend the Russian Orthodox church on Sunday.

To the right is an area known as "Kirbytown Hill", named after a Mr. Kirby who owned several small homes in the area (more on this to come).

Maybe our future doesn't have to be based upon the past.
