Ghost Town Trail-Vintondale

Miner's memorial on the Ghost Trail in Vintondale, Pennsylvania shows miners coming out of portal 6.

The Ghost Town Trail in Pennsylvania is a popular recreational trail that runs approximately 36 miles through Cambria and Indiana counties. It follows the path of an old railroad bed that once served the region's coal mining industry. The trail is known for its scenic beauty, historical landmarks, and opportunities for hiking, biking, and outdoor recreation. It passes through several former coal mining towns, hence the name "Ghost Town Trail," as it connects these once-bustling communities that have since declined in population.

We started our bike ride at Heshbon, PA, and traveled (37.7 miles round-trip) to Nanty Glo, PA. Despite the heat, we managed to visit Vintondale and some other coal towns along the trail.

Stay tuned! I have much more to share about Vintondale and other trail towns

Maybe our future doesn't have to be based upon the past.
